Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore

It's been five years
Right down to the day
When I left this doorstep
And walked away
And now I'm back
Here at this door
But Alice doesn't live here anymore

The Lady told me
Matter of factly
She left 4 years
And 9 months exactly
And then she turned
Closing the door
Cause Alice doesn't live here anymore.

My footsteps were groggy
My mind is leaden
I hadn't a clue
As to where I was heading
Cause she wasn't where
I thought she was sure
But Alice doesn't live there anymore.

I found myself standing
On her new home
I didn't want to see her
But I couldn't roam

To knock on that door
