Not so happily ever After

Cinderella cut her feet on her broken glass slippers
The ones she threw at the door as the Prince walked out on her
The mice all dead from poisoned cheese
The pumpkin rotted laying in the field
Digested by maggots

Snow White fell victim to the evil queen's sin
Wasted away from days spent in a mirror worrying about faded youth
Forgetting the seven laborers of yore
Delicous apples that now belong
To the worms

Sleeping Beauty now always awake
Wrinkled skin surrounding her weary eyes that stay searching every minute
Looking for a spinning wheel to prick her
So the blood flows until her rest
Is Eternal

Fairy tale fantasies never work
When applied to modern day lives
Princes never measure up
and magical help never arrives.
