Eclipse of the Heart

This is the story
Of one person in love
The other not caring
and the stars above

She was slim
Beautiful and pale
Eyes deep blue
Long dark hair

She loved a man
Who was funny and smart
Who helped everybody
But kept his own heart

So she chased him
All of her life
Begging that he
Make her his wife

Though he was kind
His love he couldn't give
He said he loved nature
Free he wanted to live

Her heart grew cold
She constantly cried
She soon grew old
And then she died

The man looked back
And mourned for a day
With one last glance
The man walked away
Then one day
There was a radiant light
Up in the sky
It shown so bright

They called it the sun
so bright and so warm
A gift from the man
for nature to be born

But after twelve hours
Down went the sun
but in the east
There arose another one

It was silver and pale
And the earth grew cold
Like the woman's heart
That grew so old

The called it the moon
With power over the sea
for all those tears
She wept incessantly

So year after year
Night after day
The moon chases the sun
The sun runs away

But every now and then
The two bodies meet
If only for a day
Then make a hasty retreat
